Metals
- Aerosol Cans (must be empty)
- Aluminum Cans (don't crush)
- Pet Food Cans
- Metal Fruit and Vegetable Cans
- Metal Coat Hangers
Plastic
- Plastic Bottles #1 through #7
- Milk Jugs
- Water Bottles
- Soda Bottles
- Shampoos and Liquid Soap Bottles
- Plastic Tubs #1 through #7, such as margarine tubs
- Styrofoam materials (except for packing peanuts)
Glass
- Juice Bottles
- Beer and Wine Bottles
- Fruit Jars
- Jelly and Jam Jars
- Baby Food Jars
- Condiment Jars (catsup, mayonnaise, mustard, barbecue sauce)
- Pickle Jars
Paper
- Used Paper, including brochures, coupons, junk mail, wrapping paper, envelopes, and office/school papers
- Corrugated Cardboard, including boxes and packing material
- Cardboard Food Boxes, such as boxes from cereal, crackers, cookies, and cake mixes (remove plastic linings)
- Cardboard 12-Pack Soda and Beer Boxes
- Magazines and Telephone Books
- Pizza Boxes
- Newspapers and Advertisements
- Tissue Boxes, Paper Tubes, and File Folders
Unacceptable Recyclables
Do not put in your Blue Barrel:
- Animal Waste and Cat Litter
- Bathroom Waste and Disposable Diapers
- Furniture, Carpet, and Other Products Containing Fabric
- Mirrors, Window Glass, and Light Bulbs
- Clothing and Shoes
- Toys and Electronic Equipment, such as TVs, computers, and stereos
- Appliances and Light Fixtures
- Food Waste
- Plastic Wrap, Wax Paper, and paper with foil for plastic layers
- Dinner Ware, Glasses, and Ceramic Dishes
- Dirt, Rocks, Concrete, and Construction Debris
- Auto Parts and Auto Fluids
- Yard Waste and Wood Waste, such as scrap lumber and old fencing
- Batteries, Hazardous Chemicals, and Paint
- Medical Waste, including syringes and old medicines
- Garden Hoses and Plastic Furniture
- Floor and Ceiling Tiles
- Products containing more than one material that would need dismantling to be recycled
- Packing peanuts (Pack-N-Mail: 874-0837 & We've Got Mail: 875-2479 will gladly accept them)
Many of the above items can be reused or recycled by other means. Please call Rialto Solid Waste Management at (909) 421-7222 for information.
Note: If in doubt, throw it out! It is better to miss a small amount of recyclables than it is to chance contaminating a whole load.
