US EPA Brownfields Grants

In FY2010/11, the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Rialto was awarded two EPA brownfields grants:
(1) a $400,000 Brownfield Community-Wide Assessment Grant to investigate sites that may be contaminated with hazardous substances and petroleum; and,
(2) a $200,000 Brownfield Clean-Up Grant to help fund the remediation of an existing Brownfield site located at 1485 S. Willow Avenue.

The Agency has awarded a contract for service with Converse Consultants to help conduct the Phase I Site Assessments under the Community-Wide Assessment Grant, oversee the clean up of the site located at 1485 S. Willow Avenue and provide general grant administration for the two grants.

The Agency will host a public workshop in the coming weeks and invites members of the community including private citizens, local businesses, other stakeholders and community groups to participate in a public discussion regarding the proposed scope of work for the community-wide assessments and the clean-up of the existing brownfield site.
